Messed Up Monday

(Today's word will be in ALL CAPS, BOLD, ITALIC, and STRIKETHROUGH.)

I have no idea what started the whole thing; I just know that whatever it was, I got sick from Sunday evening well into Monday afternoon. I thought maybe it was something I ate; however, I didn't eat anything different than anyone else in my family, and they were all fine. I just don't get it. Or I guess I should say I got it, I just don't know what it was.

Anyway, about the time I'm feeling a bit better, the heat pump for the house starts making noise. Not a little noise, a HUGE noise; like it was going to fall apart any second.

My son turned it off and we called the company that installed the heat pump. Long story short, the motor bearings went out, and need replacing. Replacement isn't happening until 10 or 11 am this morning. Needless to say, it was a cold night and morning!
Thankfully, I'm feeling better. Hopefully the house will be back to it's nice warm self by the time I get home from work. I don't like the cold!

I will be thinking warm thoughts all day, to help the process!

The Littlest Things Can Bring Happiness

(Today's word will be in ALL CAPS, BOLD, ITALIC, and STRIKETHROUGH.)

I've come to the conclusion that it really doesn't take a lot to make me happy.

Like hearing my favorite artist on the radio. No matter what kind of day it's been, I hear David Lee Murphy, and I can't help but smile.

One of life's little moments presented itself Monday at work. As a rule, employees where I work can wear any color of jeans, except blue.

Usually, to be able to wear blue jeans, an employee must have purchased a "jeans sticker". This allows the person to wear blue jeans every Friday.

Then there's "Civil War" day, where employees can wear blue jeans and also sport their favorite team colors.

There's also Halloween when employees can dress up. I always manage to have a "costume" that incorporates blue jeans.

It's not that I don't like other jeans colors; as a rule I wear black ones to work, so I'm comfortable. Black jeans just aren't the same though. They don't have the same "feel" to them that blue DENIM does. Doesn't matter if it's dark blue,
or light blue,
blue jeans just have the best feel to them of any color jeans.

Back to Monday's happy moment though. Monday, our company announced that not only can we wear blue jeans on Wednesday, for the "Civil War" game; we can also wear them today, because of the blustery weather, and Thanksgiving.

Doesn't sound like much, I know, for me though, it was heaven! I could live in blue jeans day in and day out; so to be able to wear them to work two days in a row is a big deal to me.

And thus the reason I've decided it doesn't take a lot to make me happy. Two days of wearing blue jeans to work, and suddenly this short week looks even better than before!

And It Continues...

(Today's word will be in red, yellow and blue letters.)

In my last blog I wrote how any given day can have it's ups and downs, and how things have been that way for me lately.

It's been like a rollercoaster, waaaaaaaaaaaaaay up on some good and fun stuff; waaaaaay down on the not so good stuff. At this point I think there's been a balance of good and bad; though I'm not sure, since things have been going up and down so fast, it's hard to keep track.

Then comes the time in the middle of all the hub bub that you realize, "it's Monday, I'm not getting home until late, and I have to have a blog for Tuesday, because of the word for the day".

You get home, realize not only is it late, you have one other thing to take care of before you can sleep. Should be easy, except this time. Add in a few other things and it can be a bit chaotic; especially when you're not sure what you're going to write a blog about. Kind of hard to have a word of the day when you don't even know the subject of the blog.

What happens when the rollercoaster ride takes on a life of it's own? This...a blog for the sake of a blog...Why? Because I don't want to not do what I said I would; the blog must go on!

With that said, this has been today's blog. For those wanting the word of the day, the three letters below spell out how things have been lately, and therefore it's the word for today.

Thank You Washington State Department of Licensing...

I have no idea what happened to my driver's license.  I had it last Tuesday, and now I don't. What's worse, I didn't notice until today, almost a week later!  Naturally, I have to discover this fact on a Monday, when the Washington State Department of Licensing is closed.  ARGH!

It's funny, when you don't know something's missing you don't think about it.  Then when you DO notice, you start worrying that you'll be pulled over or something; at least that's what happens to me.  So, what to do, what to do?  All of a sudden I'm wondering if I'll make it home alright, with no problems.  Mind you, Wednesday through Friday last week I wasn't thinking about it at all; hadn't noticed my license was missing.  Today is Monday though, and I did notice.  Wasn't sure what to do about the situation, what with licensing being closed and all.

When all else fails, I take to the internet to see if I can at least have my fears eased;  if not find a solution to my problem.  Lo and behold, what's this?!  You can renew, or replace your driver's license online now?!  YAY!!!!  There are certain criteria that must be met before you can do this of course; I met every one of them.  Double YAY!!!!
So, thank you Washington State Department of Licensing for being up to date on technology!  I now have a temporary copy of my license to get me through until my replacement arrives in the mail. I can breath again!

Eau De CornNuts

Monday’s “Simon’s Celebrity Soup” had a bit about Taylor Swift coming out with a new fragrance, “Wonderstruck”.    It got the morning team to wondering what fragrance they’d be.  My immediate thought for Scott was, “CORNNUTS!!!”

Sometimes my thoughts just come and go; other times they hang around until I actually do something about them.  That’s the case with my CornNut idea.  I kept trying to think how I could create something to describe Scott’s fragrance.

After a day or so, I realized I was over thinking the whole process.  I was trying to be too precise with my thoughts.  Once I simplified things, it all finally came together.  Rather than bottling Scott’s new fragrance, just use the real thing!  One cornnut should be just the right amount to rub on your face and neck.

Of course, for it to be Scott’s fragrance, the packaging would need to be altered; like putting Scott’s face on the bag.  And the price would have to be much higher than the regular price of CornNuts; after all, this is a “fragrance” that’s being promoted, not a snack item.  You can get cornnuts almost anywhere; Scott’s Eau De CornNuts would be sold in places like Macy’s and Nordstrom’s.

Why stop there though?  Heck, Scott could have a whole line of Eau De CornNut fragrances.

ORIGINAL
This would be your every day fragrance, perfect for the office, or just hanging out at home.

BARBECUE
What better way to get in the mood for a barbecue than with Scott’s Eau De CornNut Barbecue fragrance?  Whether you’re grilling in your own backyard, at a tailgate party, or going to a barbecue somewhere else, Scott’s Eau De CornNut Barbecue makes the perfect accompaniment to any cookout.

RANCH
Sometimes you just feel like leaving the city behind and getting back to nature.  Maybe go horseback riding, or have a picnic in the wilderness.  For those times when you feel like being a man’s man, there’s Scott’s Ranch fragrance.

CHILE PICANTE
Maybe you have a hot date this evening, or just want to spice the night up a bit; Scott’s Chile Picante fragrance is sure to do the trick.  If you really want to get wild, dab a little Chile Picante cornnut dust behind your ears…Spicy!

CALIENTE
If you’re looking for a bit more than just a spicy time, and want variety, Scott has you covered with his Caliente CornNut mix.  Not only will you get that spicy fragance you crave, it’s enhanced with red pepper and sesame stick among other things. Caliente also makes the perfect gift for that man in your life who may need something to spice things up and bring the variety back to your romance.

NACHO CHEESE
We’ve all known guys who can only be described as “cheesy”.  The one’s who tell the bad jokes, schmooze everyone they come in contact with, and generally act like big shots around the office.  Well, next time you draw that person’s name for the office gift exchange, Scott has the perfect present; Nacho Cheese Eau De CornNuts.  You, and the whole office will always know when that guy is coming around; allowing everyone to make a quick exit.

Don’t accept cheap knock-offs you can find at almost any corner store.  When you want to give the best, give Scott’s Eau De CornNuts.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog.  It helped me get one more thing out of my system.

Reality TV--I've Been Sucked In!!

When it comes to "reality" shows, I'm pretty good at avoiding them.  Until recently, I could proudly state that I'd never seen even part of an episode of Celebrity Apprentice.

As much as I like Trace Adkins, even he couldn't get me to watch the show.  Then this year, one celebrity changed all that.  You probably think I mean John Rich, who currently represents country music on Celebrity Apprentice...Nope.  I actually gave in because of my childhood crush...David Cassidy.  (Please feel free at this point to take a moment to get the laughing out of your system.  It's okay, I'm used to it.)   :)  Better?  Okay, let's continue.

Until I heard that David Cassidy would be on Celebrity Apprentice, I had no interest in watching the show.  Even at that point I was still resisting tuning in...Then I heard who the other celebrities were, and I was intrigued.  How could you not want to watch  Gary Busey  interact with the rest of the celebs?  It had "train wreck" written all over it!  Or as I like to put it, "it's like watching a stock car race; you're waiting for the big wrecks, just hoping no one gets hurt".

So, giving in to temptation, I tuned in to the first Celebrity Apprentice show of 2011...Two hours later, what do I get?  David Cassidy gets fired!  ARGH!!!  By then however, it was too late, I'd been sucked in by the show.

Now, for two hours every Sunday night, I'm in front of my television, waiting for the wrecks and to see who gets fired.  Never mind that it plays havoc with my sleep and getting up early on Monday mornings.  Never mind that I could watch the show online at a later date...No, I have to see it when it's happening...Don't want to have someone spoil it for me.  :)

You may think I'm sounding a bit negative about something I've done to myself...In reality though, (every pun intended), I've found a positive in all of this.  I'm not a fan of John Rich. (from Big & Rich)...However, after watching him on Celebrity Apprentice, I do have a new respect for the man.

Despite everything his team, (Backbone), has gone through, good and bad, John has behaved as a gentleman.  When he's angry, he speaks his mind, without losing his temper.  He's up front and honest about what he thinks and how he feels, and he's not afraid to say so.  All the while he tries to make his point without ruffling feathers, unless it's necessary.  As my son put it, "for as rowdy a reputation as John Rich has, he's a class act".  I agree.

So, that's my positive spin on being sucked in to watching Celebrity Apprentice.  It's taught me that people can still behave, be classy, stand up for what they believe in and get their point across without losing control.

Not sure if I'll watch another season of Celebrity Apprentice or not; but I guess I don't regret watching this season...for now anyway...I'll have to see if who I want to win, wins this year.  :)
